What can I do to fix my hair?

Hi. Before I start, you should know that I'm a 14-year-old BOY, so please don't give me advice for girls. Thanks :). I've had curly hair all my life. Like, it's not an afro, because it doesn't all go up over my head, but kind of goes ';around'; my head. After I take a shower, it kind of looks like wavy hair and it goes down and really long. You can still see a lot of curls, but I guess you could call it wavy.

Now, like I said before, I've had it for all my life. I hate it so so so much but I don't want to cut it short. I know that if I do, it will look horrible. No offense, but I think having short hair that is curly is repulsive (on me, I can't say that about others because some people look really good with short curly hair). Short curly hair would look horrible on me. My parents REALLY want me to cut it, but they aren't forcing me to. They've wanted me to cut it for so long now. Maybe even more than 5 years already!

So, now here's the big problem. If I cut my hair in the middle of the year, everyone will notice the change and I'll get too much attention. I don't want that. I want people to not notice. Wait, that's impossible, like, just make less of a big deal about it. And if you think I'm acting self-centered, you're wrong. On April Fool's day, I wore a black wig that looked kind of like my hair. I told people I dyed my hair black. In 10 minutes, people who just came into the school already knew about it. And this year, I'm going into the high school. That means that I'll have brand new teachers. It's either now or in four years (after high school), because there's no way I'll cut it in the middle of high school. All the teachers will notice the change, and I'd rather cut it before high school. So that leaves me with about a month left to do something, and if I make a mistake I might not be able to change it in time and I'll come to school looking horrible. I need to get it over with already.

Okay, so I want something that looks really good. Maybe I can use my long hair to do it. Anything that doesn't have curly hair involved is good (EXCEPT FOR DREADLOCKS AND MOHAWKS). Like, almost anything is good, from short BUT STRAIGHT hair, to long, emo hair. I don't care. I just need to get rid of the hair I have now.

Hopefully, my parents won't mind what I do with my hair like they mind what my sister does with her hair, because they've wanted me to cut my hair for so long that anything will be good for them. Well, that's what I'm hoping for anyways.

Oh, and something important. I'm REALLY REALLY REALLY shy, and I could never go to a barber shop and just explain what I want. Also, I don't know of any good ones that work near where I live. So I'm hoping I can do this at home alone. My sister has a hair straightener that I guess I could use. I could also find gel somewhere, but I haven't ever seen any in our house. But if that's what I need then I'll find a way to get it.

And one final thing. I'm on vacation and I'm coming back about a week (MAYBE MAYBE MAYBE a bit more) before high school starts. I can't do anything here. So, if I straighten my hair, will it curl back to normal after I take a shower? How long will it take if a shower won't fix it? And I mean back to EXACTLY how it was before.

So here are my questions:

1. Is it possible to cut my long curly hair so that when it is short it WILL NOT BE CURLY?

2. What other things can I do to my hair that don't involve curliness? I can use the long-ness of it for more ideas!

3. Is there anything I can do at home?

4. How long will it take my hair to get back to EXACTLY how it was if I straighten it? My hair is extremely curly. Will a shower help?

5. WHAT SHOULD I DO??? Is there any other advice you can give me?

Please answer each question like:

1. ANSWER BLA BLA BLA

2. ANSWER BLA BLA BLA

etc.

THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH IF YOU HELP. I've been meaning to write this for so long but I'm on vacation and I never got the time. This is EXTREMELY important to me, and again, THANKS SO SO SO MUCH!!!!!!What can I do to fix my hair?

With the wind and the sun in it, it's an awesome sight to behold as it's about to take flight.......What can I do to fix my hair?
MY son is 14, and I understand hair anxiety....he had the long hair, then went in the opposite direction and got a Caesar, which is the really short (almost crew cut) with the bangs/front just long enough to gel/stand up in front.

I hear that you are shy, but you MUST go to a professional, or you are going to mess your hair up, and mess it up badly. You need to go to a salon that does mens' and womens' hair. They have style books, with lots of pictures of different styles.

Just look at pictures to find styles you like, then talk to the hairdresser and see if it would work with your style...they will tell you if it will, and also give you tips on working with you hair.

Have your mom take you, and don't be embarrassed about it. Your mom will understand and want to make sure you look good, so you can feel good about yourself. She will want the beginning of high school to be a good thing for you--trust me!

Just talk to her about it, and make an appointment somewhere!

Have a great school year, and good luck on the hair.
1. Curly hair will still be curly whatever length you cut it. Trust me I've had curly hair all my life and I got it cut shorter (I am a girl.) And It was still curly and stuck out everywhere. Ew. I got it chemically straightened in the end.

2. You could try straightening it but you will have to everyday and it might take a while!

3. Blow dry after a shower and make sure its above and the air goes down the roots to the tip.

4. A shower will make your hair go straight back to how it was. On your hair description, you will probablyy have to straighten it everyday.

5. Get an emo/scene kid cut, take a photo to the hairdressers do not do it yourself! This way you don't have to explain and they can cut it how you want. :)
