You take the curling iron and you wrap it around your hair, you have to use the clip. You need to hold it upward, for those big flouncy curls... Then hold it for around 30 seconds, you might need a new curling iron.

I need major help with my hair!?
I have wavyish hair that curls at the bottom...and i hate it! i have always wanted stick straight hair but i am not allowed to have a hair straightener untill i am 19! does anyone have advice on how to blow dry my hair so that the ends of my hair are straight and the top is shiny? also i have anotha problem...my hair is extremely greasy and i have no idea how to get rid of it and keep it silky! if i wash my hair in the morning, by the next day it is completely oily! does anyone have advice to help me get un-oily hair and to get my hair stick straight with only a blow dryer? thxx so much!I need major help with my hair!?

okay so I think i got lured into this- the lady at the mall in a kiosk called set it straight did a wonderful job to my hair but promised it would keep a curl even in humidity well i purchased this thing for $180 which she said was a deal since she usually sells it for $260- I went home and the curls were gone- i mean its a good straightner but still not satisified with how much it came up too--- anyone else used this????? and any experiencesAbout the CORTEX hair straightener??? any one used or heard of this??

okay so i bought a straightener, which also can be used to curl hair... so i curled my hair today, i sprayed my curls with hair spray, and like half an hour later the curls feel out and i was left with
straight hair...

The lady demenstrated it on my hair to show me how it turns out, she got a real nice curl in my hair, and it stayed in for a longer time.. she also said a good iron should keep your curls in for a long time... but it didnt stay in long at all...
soo... is there a secret or what?

What do I do about burnt hair?
Ok. So, three days ago, my friend decided to curl my hair with a straightener (Remington Wet2Straight). After she did, my hair was extremely dry and smelled burnt. Now, I've washed it twice since I got it damaged, and although it doesn't feel dry, it still smells a bit burnt, but the smell is more pronounced when my hair's wet.
What do I do?
Are there any products I need to buy and use (preferably relatively cheapish ones easily found in a supermarket)? Or any natural remedies? Should I get my hair cut?
If you've been in the same situation as me, how did you go about solving it?
By the way, I don't usually use a straightener (since I don't own one) and I don't blowdry either.

you should condition your hair well and try washing it with an egg once...its an excellent hair conditioner! try a leave on conditioner with a nice smell to mask the smell...if the shape of your haircut got spoiled, or if that particular piece of hair look different from the rest, i would recommend a haircut..,
For the next time, always remember to use a good heat protectant, and not keep the iron in your hair for more than ten seconds =)
You can but Sunsilk Hydra TLC which is good for hair that gets burnt. It also smells good and is relatively cheap. And if you can only get one thing get the conditioner, it will help.
ha! aaw hair straighteners and curlers are evil. it took me like a year to get my old beutiful healthy hair back after i used to straghten my hair.
just leave it alone, dont wash it every day, use alot of conditioner when you do. get a hair repairing shampoo and conditioner, dont brush it alot, dont use any product. good luk.

If you have a heat setting, make sure its up pretty high, but not high enough to burn hair.
1. Turn on the curling iron or curling irons that you plan to use.
2. While the curling irons are warming up, separate your hair into three sections by pulling two sections to each side of your face leaving the third section to be the back.
3. Clip up two of the sections, leaving one down. Curl the first section, starting toward the back of your head and working your way to the front. When you put your hair in the curling iron it should look like a spring that is coiled around the curling iron. If you have two different sizes of curling irons use the larger one to curl the bottom layer of your hair and the smaller one to curl the top.
4. Spray that section with your hairspray and gently clip it away from the...REST AT THE SOURCE!

Well my hair gets the ponytail hair alot bcuz im a total tomboy and sometimes if straighting it doesnt work and i dont have time to take a full shower i get the top of my hair wet and brush it, then it looks like i straightened my hair but its just wet, it usually stays straight for at least 8-9 hours for me.

OK i watched that video on youtube that shows how to curl your hair with a straightener. Well my straightener has a heat protected outside and so i can curl it like that. I was wondering if you get the same results with a curling iron than with a straightener.

Should I buy a straightener or a curler?
Okay, so here's the deal: I want to curl my hair for school pretty much all the time; not really interested in straightening it much. However I've heared that you can curl your hair with a straightener as well, and I've watched a heap of youtube videos on the subject. The curls look really good. But really I can't find a definitive answer on which is better to curl your hair with. ( I don't want a super tight curl by the way) Which is better for your hair and how different will it look?

When I curled my hair at first, it worked so well. Then suddenly it stopped working so well. I don't know why. I tried different size curling irons, and even straightening with a straightener (that was a little bit better....but it still left crimp marks kind of,) but nothing works anymore. What do I do?! I need this for tomorrow so I can't buy anything! Please tell me how I should curl my hair (no rollars please, I can't find quite enough.) Btw, I don't have split ends anymore; I just cut them off.

Start by getting about a two inch section of hair, pull in back away from your face and then wrap the hair around the curling iron from the top. Hold with your hand rather than clasping down the iron, wait a few seconds and then let go.
By sectioning off all of your hair you will get less frizz and less uncurled pieces. After all is curled- lightly run your fingers through it and side sweep your fringe.
Be sure to use about a 3 inch barrel curling iron if your hair is as long as the hair in the picture.

My mom has an afro and she used this once and fell in love with it. We both had a chi and they are great but this is new and it blows it out of the water. Salon's carry them so maybe they can let you sample it! Highly recommended and about the same price as a chi, but look online they are about 60$ cheaper vs. the salon

How do I style the hair in the back of my head?
Okay, so I am some-what of a beginner on hair styling. I got a hair straightener, curler, and what ever you call it that crimps your hair, all in one by conair. I can do most of the side of my hair pretty well by myself. It's just that I have no idea how to do the back of my head. My hair is pretty long and my friend tolled me to bend down and brush all the hair in front of my head kind of and then style it like that, but it's really hard for me, and I can't do it. It's a;so hard for me just to reach the back of my head, but I don't have any mirrors or can't buy any to help with seeing that. I also don't really have anyone else to help me with it because nobody knows how to do it in my house, and I could show them, but it's a waste of time and work. Im pretty sure you can curl them and stuff like that, but you would probably want a professional to do it, not yourself cuz theres a big chance you'll mess them up. : )

your hair seems really thick and tough what i do is i roll up my sister's hair into a tight curly 1/4 sized hair section then clarmp it with a flat iron all over, rotating around the section. i wait til it cools then i make the tight curl into more loose litter sections, it looks amazing and another thing make sure your hair is straight b4 you curl otherwise it will look funny

if you dont want to use heat you can try a few different tricks.
1) braid bun. do when wet. braid your hair in three/two sections top to bottom and then coil them into a bun - this will prevent them from looking crimpy yet not coily. this has a more beachy look.

If you want to use heat - a curling iron may work better.

Do not towel dry it at all and do not touch it after you put the serum in it. How do you curl long hair?
My hair hair is down to my knees and I'm about 5'9 so it's really long. It's thick and healthy. It's all one length. It's very straight but it's got body and not flat. I can't even straighten it with a straightener. I've seen people with long hair get their hair curled so I know it's possible. So how could I got about getting it curled? I like Shakira's curls as a guide. Spiral type. My hair holds styles well. Please post info. How long would it take it get it done professionally? Thanks.How do you curl long hair?

You should try and get it cut. Down to your ancles? that is actually too long you should get it cut and it would be a lot easier to curl and you can do a lot of different styles
if your hair is that long and HEALTY, i would advise that you don't curl it. mainly because having healthy hair is essential when it's that long. if you want to go for the curly look i would cut it a little bit first.
With hair that long, it may be very difficult to curl it if it doesn't have any natural waves to it..since the longer the hair is, the more weight it has, and thus the more difficult it is to create a style that goes against its natural texture.
For my waist-length hair, I had my stylist cut layers, which makes it much easier to style, since it removes some of the weight and bulk. After I wash it, I towel dry, then apply mousse to wet hair. Afterwards, I separate my hair into 4 equal sections (two on the top side of my head and two below those). For each section of hair, I twist it until it turns into a knotted bun, then I secure the hair with an elastic. I let it air dry in the bun, then once the hair is dry, I remove it and the hair is curly. This usually lasts until the next time I wash my hair.
You can try curling by pinning up your hair and then taking it off after several minutes. If you give it ten minutes it should come out pretty curly but seeing as your hair is you might want to leave it for a bit longer.

Otherwise you can just use a normal curling tongs, seeing as your hair is long you can do one length of your hair at a time so all your hair is properly curled. Be sure to stop before it completely slides off. Pull iron down to the tip of your hair.]]Start curling your hair in the direction you want it to curl in, for example curve it under if you want an inward curl.
.4.Continue to curl your hair until you reach the top part of your hair and hold it there for 10 seconds.
5.Slowly and gently start to uncurl your hair until you reach a point where you can press your thumb down again without your hair holding your curling iron shut. (The slower you let it come down, the longer the curls will hold.)

It's really not that hard once you get the hang of it.All I can tell you is keep trying because I too had that problem but if you keep practicing you will eventually learn how to do it the right way.
This is how I curl mine without an iron. Probably wont work if you have super straight hair though.
After washing, towel dry. Use a good anti-frizz serum, and flexible hold gel (avoid the roots). Then add curling mousse (or other good curling product) to the tips.
Now heres the tricky part. You need to to really shake your damp hair so that you have many small strands. then you scrounch up your hair towards your head with a diffuser on your hair dryer. When you release you should see your hair come out in sexy natural loose curls. Hang your head upside down for volume at the roots (to avoid the curly pyramid look).
If your hair comes out too frizzy, you've overdone the blowdrying. You only need to blow dry until its still a little damp but mostly dry. If it's really too frizzy or the curls aren't quite right, re-dampen the ends, maybe use a little more mouse or other curling product and try again.
Well first of all Heat up the curling iron.
THen open up the clamp and clip abut a inch of hair ( for large pretty curls) in the clamp. Then you roll the curling iron up towards the roots, being careful not to touch it, it is hot, and hold it there for a few seconds. THen unclamp that piece of hair and secure it on your head. This is how I curl mine without an iron. Probably wont work if you have super straight hair though.
After washing, towel dry. Use a good anti-frizz serum, and flexible hold gel (avoid the roots). Then add curling mousse (or other good curling product) to the tips.
Now heres the tricky part. You need to to really shake your damp hair so that you have many small strands. then you scrounch up your hair towards your head with a diffuser on your hair dryer. When you release you should see your hair come out in sexy natural loose curls. Hang your head upside down for volume at the roots (to avoid the curly pyramid look).
If your hair comes out too frizzy, you've overdone the blowdrying. You only need to blow dry until its still a little damp but mostly dry. If it's really too frizzy or the curls aren't quite right, re-dampen the ends, maybe use a little more mouse or other curling product and try again.
Well first of all Heat up the curling iron.
THen open up the clamp and clip abut a inch of hair ( for large pretty curls) in the clamp. Then you roll the curling iron up towards the roots, being careful not to touch it, it is hot, and hold it there for a few seconds. THen unclamp that piece of hair and secure it on your head. Continue with the rest of your hair and spray with hairspray. I hope this helped, if you need further instructions try searching it on google!

I put a bit of Wellla 'Punk Chic' matt paste on each section after curling it, then spray all over with light hairspray right at the end. (I don't like Strong Hairspray as it makes your hair too stiff)
I don't want the tight ringlet-curls - just nice, loose curls. But the curls still collapse and my hair just goes a bit wavy half-way through the day/night! So does anybody have tips on how to stop this happening?

This product is weighing your hair down. A better product would be to use Wella Curl Artist or Curl Energy.
dont use the paste on ur hair it will weigh it down. instead of spraying ur hair all over when ur done. spray each section seperatly. also ur hair may be too long. too much hair will weigh down the curls and cause it to go flat.

I know you said blow-drying it doesn't work, but you're probably not doing it right.
Use gel or straightnening creme and apply it to your hair while its damp.
Divide your hair (it makes it easier, at least for me)
Hold one section with even tension. (Using a round brush to hold it works better for me than jus holding it with my hand)
And dry that part until its perfectly dry, cas if its damp, it'll go wavy or curly again.
Then do the other sections.
Hopefully this helps = D

Then, put the blow dryer on it and pull it down....roll it back up and push it down.....etc. Do this to each of the sections until dry. Finish with some hairspray and/or frizz control spray. It also might help to use a straightening shampoo. like ';Straighten Up'; from Herbal Essence.

if your going to curl it by yourself, then there isn't an exact way to get it exactly like megan fox's. your just going to have to experiment, and i bet eventually you will figure it out. if you really want ur curls to look exactly like megan fox's at this moment, then you should to a hair salon and ask them to teach it to you. hope this helps :)

you could get it wavy by like having a shower and then with wet hair plait it.
Like it doesnt go that curly, but it does go like really nice waves.
Thats when you have two in.
I think the more plaits you do the curlier it will go but it might make your hair like really big :L
you have to keep them in as well overnight or like untill your about to go.

for big loose waves - wash it ( or dampen it) and then spray it with hair spray or whichever product you wish to use, then tie it in a loose messy bun. The tighter the bun, the smaller the curls. But remember, if you want it to STAY like that for the rest of that day you need to use something like hairspray to hold it into place.
for smaller, tighter curls, you could just twist your hair into little buns all over your head when its damp . although it REALLY uncomfortable to sleep with though :(
failing that you could always buy curlers? my mom wouldnt let me when i was like 13 or something so that what i used to do ;) but i have curlers now it makes life sooo much more easier! i curl before bed to get the desired look

for big loose waves - wash it ( or dampen it) and then spray it with hair spray or whichever product you wish to use, then tie it in a loose messy bun. The tighter the bun, the smaller the curls. But remember, if you want it to STAY like that for the rest of that day you need to use something like hairspray to hold it into place.
for smaller, tighter curls, you could just twist your hair into little buns all over your head when its damp . although it REALLY uncomfortable to sleep with though :(

Hair problem!?
i went to out last week and my mum told me i can either get a hair straightener or hair curler.
i have naturally wavy/curly hair and i chose the hair curler so when i went home i curled my hair and it made no difference!!! it was the same! becase i already have wavy/curly hair so i should have got the hair straightener and omg i just wasted so much money.
so i was wondering if i can straighten my hair with the curler?

I like the way Ashley Tisdale has her hair done in the suite life of zack and cody and high school musical. How it is curled a certain way and looks really cute. Every time I try to find out how to do it on Yahoo Answers, they say to go to a salon. I REALLY want to learn how to do it at home so I can wear it to school and stuff. I can't go to a salon so they could show me either. I have a one inch curling iron and a half inch curling iron and a straightener. I have spray gel, hairspray, mousse, all that stuff, I just don't know how to do it. PLEASE HELP!!!

First off, show those pics to your stylist and have them cut you hair that way. (It looks like long layers with long bangs, but best to bring the pic).
Once you get the cut, if your hair is naturally wavy or curly, you might be able to just moouse it when wet and straighten (blowdry) the bangs. If you don't like the way that turns out, then do the following...
Wash, and then add a conditioning cream to your hair (sunsilk ';de frizz'; in the green bottle is great for that), then blowdry hair straight. Next roll all of your hair with thick hot rollers. Then run your fingers through your hair. (For the bangs, depending on how your hair is, the blow drying might be enough, but if not, use a curling iron, hot roller, or straightener to play with them until they get the way you want them. (You might also need to pin them with a bobby pin) You might end with a shine or glossing spray, and very little or no hairspray.
It's probably best not to brush your hair, but if you must, make sure the brush has bristles that are plastic and kind of far apart. Or better yet use a fat wide toothed comb. Also don't brush with hairspray in your hair, or it will be a mess. Just running your fingers through it is the best.

1.Your gonna need some type of leave in conditioner to put in your hair once it thoroughly towel dried. Mousse too. You can still get this look without it but it makes it a lot more easy and controllable.
2. Once your hair is damp. Halfway dry and brushed. Mess it up a bit
3. Get a thick strong hairband and wrap your hair around into a bun going to the right. Make the bun a little loose. Let it dry like that.
4. Your curls will come out beautifull if followed correctly.
5. Take your hair down and if needed; touch the curls up with a decent curling iron.
Styling spray helps to spray when hair is towel dried.
Good Luck. I can give you this method confidently this works with me every time.
(Since you only have two hours just dampen your hair) and follow the instructions)

Use a curling iron that is smaller than the curls you want. Curl it in sections. After each curl is done, pin it to your head with a bobby pin or duck bill clip.
Let the curls cool while they are pinned so that they set. (at least 15-20 minutes).
Once you take the pins out, run your fingers through it to make it looser. It will probably seem too curly at first, but once it relaxes, it will look gorgeous. Finish with a little bit of hairspray.
well i have one thing to say DO NOT WET YOUR HEAD AT NIGHT BECAUSE YOU WILL GET BED HEAD WHEN YOU GO TO SLEEP happens to me all the time. this is what my sister does she takes some TCB it comes it a spray can and she sprays her hair then she takes the curling iron and curls the ends of it puts curlers in it and wraps it up for the night. and it looks nice in the morning. or she also uses the instyler it works soooooooooooooooooooooo good. let me tell i use and i do not even have a perm and it is perfect
You could use sponge curlers and then run your fingers through the curls in the morning to soften them. Personally, however, I find it uncomfortable to sleep with any kind of curlers in my hair. If you can settle for less showy curls, sleeping with french braids in your hair and untying them in the morning creates soft waves that have virtually no frizz. If you braid your hair while it is still damp (not wet) and spray a little wave enchancing spray on it, that helps too. :)
