Curling my hair/making it wavy?

My hair goes to about my shoulders and it is very straight and layered. I would like to mix it up, and curl/make waves in it. I tried using a curler and it did not work. Could somebody give me their opinion on heated rollers? Do you leave them in all night? If I want loose curls would it work out? How exactly do they work? Also has anybody here curled their hair with their straighteners before, because I've also heard of that and have yet to try it.Curling my hair/making it wavy?
Curling your hair with a flat iron works really well, and you get bouncier curls than with a curling iron. Hot rollers are good because you get a lot of volume, and you can either have large waves or smaller curls. You don't wear them all night-you put them in while they're hot and leave them in until they've cooled down completely. Leaving them in your hair while they're cool will help keep the style in. The best time to do this is in the morning while you're doing your makeup and getting ready, and when you're done you take out the rollers and you have beautiful hair!Curling my hair/making it wavy?
Whatever you do, don't get a perm or chemical treatment. I don't find the results good and when your roots come in, it looks unsightly.

I recommend rollers, they don't have to be heated. You can set them in medium rollers and use a blow dryer (not too hot) to have the curls set. You can apply a styling product to help them stay curly too.
heated rollers dont need to be left in over night you just put them in and then do your makeup and take them out after about 10-20 minutes

i like using a straightener better its so much easyer and faster

What do you mean ';tried using a curler and it did not work.'; Of course it works... if you do it right. What did you do?

Yes, you can set your wet hair on rollers, or damp hair, or use hot rollers on dry hair, or use a curling iron, or even use some of the rounder straighteners. Each produces a different look and some don't last that long.

Ask your mother or grandmother how to do this. They did it all the time when they were younger. Since your hair is layered (maybe -- depends on what you mean by that), it should curl very nicely, and look great.

You should not sleep in rollers, just for comfort, and it puts too much pressure on the hair and may cause breakage or strange curls. Use a hood-type dryer for best results. Hot rollers are only left in until they are cool -- about 20-30 min. If using a curling iron, allow the newly formed curl to remain clipped in the curl shape until cool. You get better results that way.

There are countless videos on YouTube on how to curl your hair in all these ways. Search for them. But ask your mother to show you how to set your hair.
