How to curl my hair? Nothing works!!?

Ok so i have tried so many ways to curl my hair and none of them work. Either the curls come out to poofy or they come with hairs flying everywhere.

I don't want bouncy curls, i want soft curls. like these http://img2.timeinc.net/instyle/images/2鈥?/a>

I have tried the straightener, the curling iron, a bun. None of them work. I take a shower the night before so i need something that works for overnight. My hair is straight so i dont have any natural wave. PLEASE HELP!!!How to curl my hair? Nothing works!!?
as for curling it think twice about a curling iron, I'd use a flat iron just because its better for you hair, its quicker and easier.

Try this tutorial out so you can see what I''m talking about:

Use big curlers and leave them in over night but don't roll them to the top or they'll be too harsh!
you should try french braiding your hair when it is wet and sleeping with it like that. then in the morning you will have nice curls
try the instyler mayve?? scrunch your hair?? curlers??

Prep your dry hair with a pliable hairspray before curling, and you may even want to try putting gel in it while it's wet.

Use a curling iron that is smaller than the curls you want. Curl it in sections. After each curl is done, pin it to your head with a bobby pin or duck bill clip.

Let the curls cool while they are pinned so that they set. (at least 15-20 minutes).

Once you take the pins out, run your fingers through it to make it looser. It will probably seem too curly at first, but once it relaxes, it will look gorgeous. Finish with a little bit of hairspray.
well i have one thing to say DO NOT WET YOUR HEAD AT NIGHT BECAUSE YOU WILL GET BED HEAD WHEN YOU GO TO SLEEP happens to me all the time. this is what my sister does she takes some TCB it comes it a spray can and she sprays her hair then she takes the curling iron and curls the ends of it puts curlers in it and wraps it up for the night. and it looks nice in the morning. or she also uses the instyler it works soooooooooooooooooooooo good. let me tell i use and i do not even have a perm and it is perfect
You could use sponge curlers and then run your fingers through the curls in the morning to soften them. Personally, however, I find it uncomfortable to sleep with any kind of curlers in my hair. If you can settle for less showy curls, sleeping with french braids in your hair and untying them in the morning creates soft waves that have virtually no frizz. If you braid your hair while it is still damp (not wet) and spray a little wave enchancing spray on it, that helps too. :)
then you need to put jerry curl where you used the self hot curla
Steam rollers! believe me, my hair does not curl...but these things give me a curl that lasts until I wash it. Try em! They are great! I know what you are going through believe me! haha :)
The fact that you shower at night is a big help. Put a styling product in your hair (gel, creme, whatever), then braid your hair into about 4-6 big braids when it's still damp. Don't pull the braids super tight, and start the braid an inch or so from your scalp. Let it dry this way overnight, and by morning you'll have pretty, loose curls. Hairspray it for staying power. If you get a kink at the bottom where the hair tie was, you can use a curling iron on just this part, or mix a tiny bit of water and styling product and put it on just that spot. Good luck!
Try hot rollers. The curl locks in place as the rollers cool. Lasts all day for me.

Big rollers = bigger waves and more volume

Smaller rollers = smaller curls

Spray each piece of hair with hair spray before you roll and choose sections about the same size as the roller you are using.

When you take the rollers out use your fingers to separate the curls and style then spray with more hair spray.
Lots of gals roll their hari at night and take the rollers out in the morning, which makes styling much faster.

For the modern, really awesome looking and pretty hairstyles that you see around now, use either plastic or Velcro rollers. Also, its better for your hair, the style lasts longer and you can style it in different ways. This yahoo group has tons of pictures of the latest hairstyles without the spam, pop ups and cumbersom navigation to find the what you are looking for.. It takes a little patience because there are so many pictures to view. It might be of help.
